William Dale “Roger” Shell, 75, Roan Mountain, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Iredell Memorial Hospital, Statesville, N.C. He was born February 15, 1949 in Banner Elk, N.C., to the late Leon Dale and Nell Gibbs Shell.
Roger was a construction worker. He was a member of Mountain View Church, N.C.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Leona Greene.
Survivors include four sisters, Sylvia Bowers and husband Fred, Penny Tolley, Audrey Smith and husband Richard and Barbara Gardner; two brothers, Carroll Shell and Sandy Shell and wife Marybeth; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, in the Gibbs Cemetery, Roan Mountain, with Minister Jude Hughes officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
