CLERMONT, Fla. – Laquita “Lucy” Halvorsen, 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2024.

Lucy graduated from Elizabethton High School. She pursued her passion for helping others by attending nursing school in Memphis, Tenn., earning her degree as a Registered Nurse (RN). Lucy dedicated her career to caring for others, retiring from the Johnson City Medical Center’s delivery room. Upon retirement, she continued her work with Shoals, Cone, and Dunkelburger & Rowe OBGYN in Johnson City. A woman of deep Christian faith, she faithfully attended church throughout her life. Lucy was known for her lively spark, enjoying life to the fullest and marveling at God’s design in all things.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Jackson Sutherland and Georgia Counts Sutherland, and her beloved husband of 60 years, Otto Kristian Halvorsen.

She is survived by her sister, Crystal Curde Greer; her son, Mark Halvorsen and wife Angela Halvorsen, and son, Gordon Halvorsen; her grandchildren, grandson, Matthew Halvorsen and wife Anastasia Halvorsen, and granddaughter, Alex and husband Rei Lozaro Gonzales; and her nephew, Randy Curde.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Lakes of Clermont Rehabilitation Center and Encompass Health and Rehabilitation Hospital in Clermont, Fla., for their compassionate care.

A private family service was held in her honor.
