Pretty Woman: The Musical comes to Martin Center on January 26

“Pretty Woman: The Musical,” based on one of Hollywood’s most beloved romantic stories of all time, will come to Johnson City January 28 at 7 p.m.

The musical will be presented at 1320 W. State of Franklin Road.

Based on one of Hollywood’s most beloved romantic stories of all times, the musical springs to life with a powerhouse creative team led by two-time Tony Award-winning director and choreographer Jerry Mitchell, an original score by Grammy® winner Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, and a book by the movie’s legendary director Garry Marshall and screenwriter J.F. Lawton.

Tickets are $72.50 and $92.50.

 

Maple Syrup Festival and Pancake Breakfast

Tipton-Haynes State Historic Site will have its annual Maple Syrup Festival and Pancake Breakfast Saturday, Feb. 8, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Tipton-Haynes Historic Site is located at 2620 S. Roan St., Johnson City.

Those attending can watch as maple syrup is gathered from the maple trees on site and is boiled down to a sweet maple syrup. Maple syrup will be cooked down all day.

A pancake breakfast will be served from 8 to 11 a.m. Admission with breakfast is $10 per adult and $5 for kids under 12 and without breakfast is adults, $6, and kids, $3. Tipton-Haynes members are free.

Maple Grove Farm of Afton, Tn., will be on site selling their delicious maple syrup.

 

3D Barn Quilt Paint Night at August Muse

A 3D Barn Quilt Paint Night will be held January 27 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at August Muse in downtown Elizabethton. The event will be with Tennessee Mountain Art and those participating will be guided through painting a 3D barn quilt on a 12×12 MSF cutout with acrylic paints. The paintings are best used for covered porches or indoor decor.

Participants will pick their colors. The cost is $40.

 

Old Time Music Jam at Sycamore Shoals

An Old Time Music Jam will be held Sunday, Jan.26, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at Sycamore Shoals State Park.

Enjoy a mix of old time and traditional folk, Celtic and gospel music. Acoustic instruments such as fiddle, banjo, guitar, bass, mandolin, dulcimer (both kinds), autoharp, feet (no taps) are welcome. All who are interested in playing, learning about, or listening to old time and traditional folk music are invited. Feel free to bring a recording device for learning purposes.
