A clean-up day has been scheduled for Jan. 17 at the Hampton Cove Creek area.

Sponsored by the Roan Mountain State Park, clean-up will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until noon. Cleaning will be from the left prong of Hampton Creek and debris removal along the pasture fence lines along the creek. This event will meet and take place at the park’s natural area, Hampton Creek Cove SNA, starting at the main parking lot at 760 Hampton Creek Road, Roan Mountain.

The day’s host is Ranger Phil Hylen, and volunteers will meet  at the parking area where up to 20 volunteers will get an overview of the area and receive work gloves, trash bags, and water. During this 3-hour workday, volunteers will aid in bagging trash, placing burnable debris into designated piles, and aiding in removing debris clogs in the Left Prong created by Hurricane Helene. Volunteers are encouraged to bring muck boots and dress for cold weather.
