Virginia “Pidge” Peters Lancaster, 91, of Elizabethton, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at Life Care Center of Gray. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Gordon Peters and Jennie Morrell Peters and was born on October 14, 1933. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lewis Lancaster; two brothers, Paul Myers and Dick Peters; and two sisters, Betty Benfield and Evelyn Manning.  

Virginia attended Stoney Creek Baptist Church and Carter Christian Church. She enjoyed sewing but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren whom she adored.  

Those left to cherish her many memories include two daughters, Patty Henry (Phil) of Kingsport and Pamela Lancaster of Johnson City; three sons, Gary Lancaster (Mary) of Johnson City, Larry Lancaster of Elizabethton and Johnny Lancaster of Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Nathan Lancaster, Jason Lancaster, Heather Miller, Dustin Warren and Mike Estep Jr.; and eight great-grandchildren, Noah Lancaster, Hayden Lancaster, Fletcher Lancaster, Luke Kate, Kara Miller, Zoey Warren, Drake Estep and Bryson Estep.  

A graveside service to honor the life of Virginia “Pidge” Peters Lancaster will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, January 6, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Bryan Smith officiating. The family wishes to express their gratitude to caregiver Amber Burke; Carolyn and the staff of Station 4 at Life Care Center of Gray; and Amedisys Hospice for their kindness and loving care of Virginia.
