Richard Hugh Donnelly, 89, of Elizabethton, went to be with his Lord, January 1, 2025 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.

A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Pauline Donnelly Estep and step-son of the late Marshall Estep.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Charlotte Jean Estep Donnelly, and two sons, Richard Alan and James Roger.

Richard was a 1953 graduate of Unaka High School. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving 20 years on active duty and another 26 years as an IT Consultant.

He was a member of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church, where he served as Trustee, Deacon and Sunday School Teacher.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Vickie Donnelly Dupussey and Michael Hilton, Dallas, N.C., and a grandson, Richard Sean Donnelly, Sherrills Ford, N.C.

A graveside service to honor the life of Richard Hugh Donnelly will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, January 6, in the Garland Cemetery with Pastor Teddy Lewis officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Music will be provided by Dale Williams. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Richard to the Garland Cemetery % Martha Whaley, Treasurer, 2803 Highway 91, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
