Lady Cyclones dominate Hilton Sandestin Beach Basketball Blowout, claim championship

The Elizabethton Lady Cyclones basketball team recently competed in the Hilton Sandestin Beach Basketball Blowout in Destin, Florida. When everything was said and done, the Lady Cyclones walked away with the gold, going 3-0 in tournament play.

Game 1: Elizabethton 69, Leslie County 31
The Lady Cyclones came out hot, hitting five 3-pointers in the opening period and jumping out to a 38-13 halftime lead. Peyton McGee led the team with 18 points, sinking five 3-pointers. Adrian Heading added 12 points, while Kayelyn Nave contributed 11.

Game 2: Elizabethton 63, South Walton 45
The Lady Cyclones methodically pulled away from the pesky Lady Seahawks, playing aggressive basketball in the third period and capitalizing on free throw opportunities. Reagan May led the charge with eight points in the third period, going 4-for-6 from the free throw line. She finished with 19 points, while Rylee May added 15.

Championship Game: Elizabethton 77, Freeport 46
Elizabethton showcased its versatility, first dominating in the paint and then transitioning to perimeter shooting in the second half. Their stout defense held Freeport to just 17 second-half points. Peyton McGee went 4-for-4 from beyond the arc and scored 18 points. Rylee May contributed 15 points, and Jamira Smalls added 12 points, including eight in the third period.

Peyton McGee was named tournament MVP, and Rylee May earned All-Tournament honors.
