MORRISTOWN – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Morristown, Tennessee, has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for portions of southwest North Carolina, east Tennessee, and southwest Virginia, highlighting potentially hazardous conditions through the weekend.
Winds will strengthen further in the mountains and foothills on Friday into Friday evening, with a Wind Advisory in effect until early Saturday morning.
Additionally, a wet weather pattern will set in through Sunday morning. Rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches, with isolated higher amounts, are expected by the end of the weekend. This could lead to localized flooding issues, particularly from Saturday through Sunday morning.
The NWS has also highlighted a low chance of severe weather late Saturday into early Sunday. Damaging wind gusts are the primary concern, with a low but non-zero risk of tornadoes.
In addition, gusty winds exceeding 50 mph are forecast for the mountains and foothills Saturday night into Sunday morning, adding to the potential hazards.
Residents in the affected areas are urged to monitor updates from the NWS, secure outdoor items, and remain vigilant for potential weather watches and warnings.
