Dear Rev. Graham: Is it possible to get a second chance to believe in God once we die, and is this getting the last rites, or returning to Earth as a different person? – S.C.

Dear S.C.: The Bible does not teach that we can make a decision for Christ after we breathe our last. In fact, Scripture teaches the opposite. It stresses that the time to decide for Christ is now, because once we die it will be too late. “It is appointed for men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27, NKJV). This verse also shows us clearly that there is no such thing as reincarnation; the idea that our souls return again and again to this Earth.

The important thing for every one of us is to realize that God has done everything possible to bring salvation to us, and there is no reason for us to delay accepting His plan for our lives. God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to die for our sins on the cross. This is why Jesus was born. No one else but Jesus Christ could do this for mankind because He was without sin and could therefore be a perfect sacrifice for our sins. All we must do is turn our sins over to Him and trust Him for our salvation by faith. God’s salvation is a wonderful gift; this is the very reason Jesus came as a Babe – He is the gift to the world. Why does anyone want to put off receiving the greatest gift of all? How tragic for lost souls to miss out on God’s salvation, thinking that they may have another chance.

Many people convince themselves that if they receive Christ their life will be dull and unexciting. Some simply don’t want to walk away from the sin they enjoy that will eventually bring them great pain. Instead, walk toward the Savior. He is waiting to hear the prayer of a repentant heart.
