A Carter County couple recently returned to the Carter County Courthouse to mark their wedding anniversary date. Philip and Alesia Lorentz were married on December 12, 2012 – 12-12-12. They said their “I do’s” at the stroke of noon – or at 12 o’clock on 12/12/2012 in front of County Court Clerk Mary Gouge.
The wedding date will be one the Lorentzs will not forget. Last week on 12-12 they returned to the courthouse to celebrate the occasion and have their photo made with Gouge, who performed their marriage ceremony.
Since the beginning of the millennium, each year has had a month with a repeating date. But with the last one in December, the last month of the year, the dates did not repeat themselves until Jan. 1, 2001.
The Lorentzes, who met at their job at American Water Heater in Johnson City, reside in Carter County. Alesia Lorentz said they chose the date for their wedding because of its uniqueness.
About Chelsea and Robert Glasscock, who were married at the time, too, Alesia said she and Philip had tried on various occasions to contact them, but had never been able to locate them.
“December is a very special month to us and it is a very spiritual month. We are so very grateful for County Court Clerk Mary Gouge. She is a sweetheart,” said Alesia.
Alesia’s son, Ricky Burchett, is employed in the office of the tax assessor. They also have two other children, who live in Florida.
