MORRISTOWN — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Morristown has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for portions of East Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, and Southwest North Carolina, with snow expected to impact the region from Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.
The forecast predicts significant snow accumulations, particularly in areas above 2,500 feet, where 3 to 5 inches of snow is expected. Some locations may see locally higher amounts of up to 7 inches.
Lower elevations in the northern plateau region, as well as foothill-adjacent areas in East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, are expected to receive lighter snow amounts. Accumulations in the northeast Tennessee valley are expected to be minimal.
Travel conditions could become hazardous across roads in higher elevations by late Friday afternoon or early evening. Residents and travelers in affected areas are urged to exercise caution and monitor updates from local authorities and the National Weather Service.
