Cyclones JV pull off thriller against Hurricanes

It was a boys-only affair Tuesday night at John Treadway Gym as the Elizabethton Cyclone JV and varsity teams hosted the Morristown East Hurricanes in non-conference action.

The evening’s first contest featured the junior varsity squads going head-to-head in a thrilling game that wasn’t settled until the final horn, with Elizabethton holding on for a 55-46 victory over the visitors from Morristown.

In the opening half, the Cyclones battled tooth and nail to build a slim 19-18 edge, led by nine points from Evan Chambers and eight points from Cayson Blair.

Anderson Noe had a strong first half for the Hurricanes, scoring all 12 of his points in the first quarter.

The second half proved decisive as the Cyclones rallied behind Chambers, who finished with a game-high 22 points to lead Coach Gary Harrison’s team to victory.

Jaxson Price also played a key role, contributing 13 points for the Cyclones. Blair added eight, while Colin Taylor and Bo Armstrong chipped in five points apiece. Grady Swearingin rounded out the scoring with two points.

Noe’s 12 points led the Hurricanes, while Peyton Holt and Demarcus Cortes each contributed six points in the defeat.
