NASHVILLE – The deadline to apply for Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) through the State of Tennessee has been extended to Tuesday, Jan. 7, coinciding with the final day to apply for FEMA disaster assistance.

Workers who lost their jobs, had hours reduced, or faced interruptions due to Tropical Storm Helene may qualify for disaster unemployment benefits. Eligible applicants include those living in, working in, or commuting to jobs in Carter, Cocke, Greene, Hamblen, Hawkins, Johnson, Unicoi, or Washington County.

DUA benefits cover unemployment between Sept. 29, 2024, and April 5, 2025, if the job loss or interruption is directly related to the storm.
