The Hampton Lady Bulldogs hosted the South Greene Lady Rebels on Friday night at Hampton Elementary School in a thrilling double-overtime matchup that saw the Lady Rebels emerge with a 61-56 victory.
The game began as a low-scoring affair, with Hampton leading 8-5 after the first quarter. The Lady Bulldogs extended their lead to six points by halftime, heading into the locker room with an 18-12 advantage.
Hampton maintained their six-point lead through three quarters, but missed opportunities allowed the Lady Rebels to rally and tie the score at 40-40 at the end of regulation.
In the first overtime, Hampton’s Hannah Smith drained a clutch three-pointer to tie the score at 47-47, forcing a second overtime period. However, South Greene capitalized on their chances at the foul line in the second overtime, ultimately sealing the victory.
