The Hampton Bulldogs hosted the South Greene Rebels on Friday night at Hampton Elementary School, with both teams coming out strong in a key conference matchup.
The Bulldogs jumped to an early lead, finishing the first quarter ahead 17-12, and extended their advantage to 35-22 by halftime, dominating the first half with solid shooting and defense.
South Greene mounted a comeback in the third quarter, catching fire from beyond the arc to cut the Bulldogs’ lead to just three points at 46-43 heading into the final period.
Hampton responded in the fourth quarter with timely three-pointers of their own, reestablishing control and pulling away for a decisive 71-55 victory.
The win secured sole possession of first place in the conference for the Bulldogs, who showcased a balanced attack and clutch shooting under pressure.
