The historic Cobb-Massengill home and surrounding grounds have stood witness to hundreds of Christmases, from the colonial era through today. As the first territorial capital of the Southwest Territory, Rocky Mount offers a unique glimpse into the traditions and stories of Tennessee’s early settlers. Visitors will enjoy the warm hospitality of the Cobb family, Governor William Blount, and their guests as they share the sights, sounds, and customs of an 18th-century Christmas.

The historic home will be adorned with authentic 18th-century decorations made from fresh greenery, illuminated by the warm glow of candlelight, and filled with the festive spirit of Christmas past. During your tour, you’ll be transported to Christmas Eve of 1791, with costumed interpreters bringing the celebration to life.

After your journey through the past, enjoy a cozy indoor reception featuring hot cocoa, homemade baked goods, and an opportunity to shop for unique treasures from local vendors. Santa Claus will also be on hand for photos, adding a touch of modern cheer to this timeless tradition.
