NASHVILLE – Gas prices across Tennessee dropped five cents on average over the past week as 1.8 million Tennesseans hit the road for Thanksgiving. The state’s average gas price now stands at $2.66 per gallon, six cents lower than last month and 24 cents less than the same time last year.
“Those traveling in Tennessee over Thanksgiving saw the cheapest prices at the gas pump since 2020,” said Megan Cooper, spokeswoman for AAA – The Auto Club Group.
On Thanksgiving Day, the average price for gasoline in Tennessee was $2.68 per gallon. This was 21 cents cheaper than Thanksgiving 2023 and 47 cents less than Thanksgiving 2022, offering some financial relief to holiday travelers.
AAA plans to release its Year-End Holiday Travel forecast on Dec. 11. Actual Thanksgiving travel totals for 2024 will be available in next year’s holiday travel report.
