Cantemus Women’s Choir is excited to announce its holiday concert series “Dancing Day!” with two performances:
Friday, Dec. 13, at 7:30 p.m. at First Broad Street United Methodist Church in Kingsport
Saturday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Bristol, Tenn.
These concerts will be the Tri-Cities premiere of John Rutter’s “Dancing Day,” a cycle of eight traditional English carols with harp accompaniment, artfully provided by Knoxville harpist Joanna Seiber. The program also includes seasonal works by composers Shawn Kirchner, Agneta Sköld, and Ed Henderson. Collaborative artist Bryan Underwood is making his triumphant return as piano accompanist, and Michelle Carpenter will make her Tri-Cities conducting debut. The program also features violinist Eliana Kovac, flutist Eileen Butler, and percussionist Jay Oberfeitinger.
Under the continued artistic leadership of Patricia Denmark, Cantemus is celebrating its 11th season this year, and promises to deliver an event to remember. Patricia is known for curating a lush program with both familiar and lesser known holiday pieces, making the Cantemus winter concerts a fresh and festive way to celebrate the season.
A suggested $15 donation will be accepted at the door to support the choir’s mission to connect, highlight, and empower women in song, and share meaningful music with the community.
