Willie D. Shell, 74, of Roan Mountain, Tenn., escaped the painful bounds of this earth on Saturday, November 23, 2024. Willie was the beloved youngest son of James and Elaine Shell of Roan Mountain. He was pre-deceased by his parents, his son, Jamey Shell, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Willie was a graduate of Cloudland High School. He spent a good part of his life as a painter – both houses (indoor and outdoors) and automobiles (repairing and repainting). He was a member of Roan Mountain Masonic Lodge #566. He enjoyed spending time with his buddies, talking about cars and politics.
Willie is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Christi and Derick Eller; a son, Kevin Shell; a grandson, Lucas Eller; and a great-grandson, Nicholas. He is also survived by his devoted brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Pat Shell, and his sister, Brenda Hoss.
His wishes were for a graveside service which will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, in the Lindy Richardson Cemetery, Morgan Branch Road, Shell Creek, with his dear friend, Pastor Richard Stout, officiating. All who knew him are invited to attend. Visitors may drop by the home of Wayne and Pat Shell at any time. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, will be Sterling Perkins, JoJo Sluder, Richard Winters, Lucas Eller, Andrew McLaughlin and Zachary Shell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rick Miller, F.D. Singleton, Randall Hughes, Kenny Johnson, Tony Whitehead and Derick Eller. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website, www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
