The Tri-Cities Showdown football tournament, hosted by Terrence Turner and Jonathan Street, brought competitive youth football to Elizabethton High School on Nov. 16-17 while highlighting community support. Star Correspondent Ciara Laws provided coverage of the tournament for Elizabethton Star readers.
A portion of the tournament’s proceeds was donated to the Hampton Youth Football organization to aid recovery efforts following the impact of Hurricane Helene.
The Toppers captured the 7U championship with a 32-20 victory over the Smokies. In the 8U division, the Smokies rebounded with a 20-0 shutout of the Longhorns. The Outlawz secured the 9U championship with a decisive 26-8 win over the Tri-Cities Fury.
Each division featured four teams. The 7U competition included the Tennessee Thunder, Smokies, and Toppers. The 8U teams were the Canes, Smokies, Longhorns, and Warclones. The 9U division consisted of the Tri-Cities Fury, Cereal Killers, Toppers, and Outlawz.

The Tri-Cities Showdown not only showcased the skills and dedication of young athletes but also reinforced the power of sports to uplift the community.
