Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Seeger Chapel has long been the cornerstone of spiritual life and community events on the campus of Milligan University. The Mary B. Martin Auditorium has recently undergone significant enhancements to improve both the spiritual development of Milligan’s students and the cultural experiences of the community.

Generous donations, including a sizable gift from the 3CLane Family Foundation, paved the way for enhancements, which will invigorate campus ministry events, university functions, and the many musical performances held inside Seeger Chapel each year. The upgrades were designed to meet the growing demand for hands-on learning opportunities in areas related to ministry and event production while preserving the chapel’s renowned architectural beauty and acoustic quality.

“Seeger Chapel has always been at the heart of our campus community,” said Milligan president Dr. Stephen Waers. “The upgrades will allow us to elevate the student experience in both spiritual and professional development contexts. I would like to thank those whose generosity made this project possible, and I’d like to recognize the work Chase McGlamery did on behalf of Dr. Greer and me to ensure this endeavor was executed so well.”

“This project underscores our dedication to preparing students for the future while maintaining the beauty and functionality of this beloved space.”

Key Enhancements Include:

– State-of-the-Art Audio System: Seeger Chapel, long praised for its warm natural acoustics, has been equipped with an industry-standard audio system designed in-house. The new system ensures compatibility with other campus systems, preserves the chapel’s aesthetics, and provides flexibility for a range of events – from weekly chapel services to large-scale concerts. This addition also creates a valuable hands-on learning environment for students interested in sound production.

– 10′ x 16′ LED Video Wall: A cutting-edge LED video wall with over 2.8 million pixels replaces the outdated projector screen that had been in place for nearly two decades. This new feature enhances visual presentations and multimedia experiences during events.

– HD Video Recording & Lighting Improvements: To meet the needs of modern events, the chapel now features a multi-camera HD video recording system along with custom window treatments to block out external light when needed, ensuring the best possible experience for both in-person and virtual audiences.

– Upstage Acoustic Curtain: An additional acoustic curtain has been installed, improving sound management and ensuring optimal auditory experiences for attendees.

This renovation comes at a time when a rising number of students have expressed an interest in production roles typically found in ministry or church settings. In response to this demand, a chapel production team was launched in the spring and quickly grew to over 30 volunteers, highlighting the enthusiasm and value students place on these opportunities.

The comprehensive nature of these improvements reflects the university’s commitment to offering students opportunities that extend beyond academics and into professional-level event production and ministry.

“Campus Ministry is thrilled about these enhancements in Seeger Chapel,” said Brealle Davis, campus minister and director of campus activities at Milligan. “The addition of industry-standard equipment enables us to create a better variety of dynamic and engaging environments for students to engage with their faith. It also opens new opportunities for students to volunteer in meaningful ways, deepening their connection to worship services and events held in this space. We hope for these experiences to equip students with valuable skills for both future careers and volunteer roles that serve and expand God’s kingdom.”
