A missed two-point try was the difference as Happy Valley (7-2) fell to Polk County 14-13 on Friday night on Warrior Hill. Senior Jamie Esterline scored on a 24-yard run after catching a trick end-around pass from Lane Parker to set up the touchdown.
The Wildcats tied the game on a one-yard plunge from quarterback Cade Brewer but missed the point-after attempt, resulting in a 6-6 halftime score. Another trick play saw Happy Valley collect a big gain when Gabe McDougald connected with Landon Keller for a 35-yard gain off a fake punt, setting up Tyler Berry’s six-yard touchdown run.
The winning score came on a one-yard run from Jesse Holden, who also converted the two-point attempt.
