Traditions of Christmas: Carter Mansion Specialty Tours are scheduled Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m.
The public is invited to join the park interpretive staff for a festival-themed tour of Tennessee’s oldest frame house. Completed around 1780, this home played an integral role in the earliest community of frontier settlers here. Visitors, as they learn about the significance of the mansion and the Carter family who built the house and lived there, will also hear how Christmas was celebrated in colonial America while enjoying the beautifully decorated rooms of this historic house.
Accessibility to the home includes steps and an interior staircase. There will be a maximum of 12 participants per tour.
The tours will also be held Sunday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m. and on Nov. 20 and 27 at 1:30 p.m. The cost is $12 for adults; $10 for seniors, 65 and over; $10 for veterans and active military, and $6 for ages 17 and under. Registration is required by calling the park.
These tours are in addition to the annual candlelight Christmas tours scheduled at the Mansion.
