Robert Thomas Wright, 75, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. Robert was born in Elizabethton to the late Ed and Pauline Arnold Wright. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Paulette Holly.

Robert was a United States Army Veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. He loved playing the lottery, Elvis, and Tennessee Vols football. Robert had achieved several medals from his service including: the National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Two Overseas Bars, Sharpshooter Medal (M-14 Rifle) and Vietnam Campaign Medal W/60 Expert (M-16 Rifle). 

Survivors include his brother, Eddie Wright; nieces, Layla Wright, Michelle Holly Dunn and Melissa Trent; two nephews, David Wright and Jason Wright; great-nephews and a great-niece, Michael Nidiffer, Amanda Trent and Drew Short; and his best friend, Bob Lipford. Several other cousins and extended family members also survive.

Robert will be laid to rest at the Mountain Home National Cemetery on Friday, November 1, at 3 p.m. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Mountain Home National Cemetery (Historic Section – 53 Memorial Boulevard) at 2:50 p.m. Friday.
