Emma Jane Myers Peters, 82, of Elizabethton, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2024, at her residence. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Aaron Bible Myers and Lula Williams Myers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Conley H. Peters; one sister, Bonnie Ada Bowers; and two brothers, Arthur Don Myers and Harmon Myers.
Emma was retired from health care and was a member of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed canning food, feeding the hummingbirds that visited her yard, and working in her flower garden. She was especially proud of her roses which was her favorite flower.
Those left to cherish her many memories include three children, Geraldine “Gerry” Taylor of Elizabethton, Michael Jeffrey Peters (fiancée Kim Poe) of Elizabethton, and Conley Keith Peters (Alice) of Watauga; three grandchildren, Colleen Huskins of Johnson City, Dylan Peters and Jonathan Peters, both of Elizabethton; three great-grandchildren, Joleen Huskins, Marilyn Elizabeth Tipton and Shiloh Rain Peters; one sister, Gladys Roberts of Ohio; three brothers, Wesley Myers, Melvin Myers and Lloyd Myers, all of Elizabethton; and several nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate the life of Emma Jane Myers Peters will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 31, at New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Wesley Duncan officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from noon until 2 p.m., prior to the service. The graveside service will follow the funeral in Blevins Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Michael Peters, Conley Peters, Melvin Myers, Randy Hardin, Paul Jones and Daryl Byrd. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Shoun and Curtis Huskins. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Ballad Health Hospice and to Emma’s caregiver, Faye Shrader, for the love and care shown to her during her illness.
