Elizabethton High School Principal Jon Minton announced Tuesday that Coach Ryan Presnell will step down from his role as EHS athletic director for the remainder of the school year.
“At this time, it is in the best interest of Coach Presnell’s family, his health, and the school for him to take a step away from his athletic duties,” Minton said. “We are grateful for his positive impact, and I know he will continue to support the school and promote our athletic programs in his new role.”
Presnell, a dedicated member of the EHS staff, expressed his gratitude for the support he has received from the Elizabethton High School community.
Assistant Principal Joe Diaz will serve as interim athletic director for the rest of the school year, alongside Nic Miller, the current assistant to the athletic director. Diaz has been with Elizabethton High School since 2009, serving in a variety of roles, including teacher, coach, and club sponsor.
“Mr. Diaz will continue to develop our athletics program while positively impacting our students and coaches,” Minton said. “His experience and passion for EHS athletics will provide leadership and stability for our school and teams during this transition.”
Lucas Honeycutt will assume the duties of interim assistant to the principal for the remainder of the school year while continuing in his role as head boys’ basketball coach.
