Scary Stories at Fort Watauga

Strange things happen around All Hallows Eve, especially at an old fort by the river. But don’t be afraid, Fort Watauga at Sycamore Shoals isn’t haunted. 

The public is invited to an Evening of Spooky Tales that are sure to send a shiver down your spine and tickle your funny bone on Thursday, Oct. 24, at Fort Watauga.

Those attending are asked to bring their own seat and dress appropriately for the chilly air.

The storytelling will be held in Fort Watauga.

 

Colonial Harvest Celebration

A Colonial Harvest Celebration will be held November 9-10 at Fort Watauga as members of the Washington County Militia gather to celebrate recent victories in the War for Independence and to give thanks for a bountiful harvest.

The two-day event will feature demonstrations of 18th Century life and living history demonstrations.

Events on Nov. 9 will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. Events Nov. 10 will begin at 11 a.m. and close at 3 p.m.

Sycamore Shoals State Park is located at 1651 W. Elk Ave.

 

Fall Fibers Fair scheduled at park

The annual Fall Fibers Fair at Sycamore Shoals State Park will be held November 9-10.

The show, which will open Nov. 9 at 10 a.m., will include workshops, vendors with handmade items for sale, raw fibers, and demonstrations of spinning, weaving, and more.

The show will close Saturday, Nov. 9, at 4 p.m. Sunday events are scheduled from 11 a.m to 3 p.m.

 

Christmas Open House Downtown 

Christmas Open House will be held downtown Elizabethton on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 1 p.m.

The 27th event kicks off the holiday season in the downtown from 1 to 5 p.m.

This is a wonderful time to get into the Christmas spirit, start your holiday shopping, and support small businesses. Holiday decor, gifts, refreshments, sales, door prizes, and gift wrapping are just some of the wonderful features those attending will find at Open House. 

The event is hosted by Main Street Elizabethton

 

Holiday Missions Market at Oak Street

The Holiday Missions Market at Oak Street Baptist Church will be held Saturday. Nov. 2, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The event will be held in the church gym and will feature handmade crafts, food, and other items.
