The City of Elizabethton Street and Sanitation Department will begin curbside vacuum leaf collection the first week of November 2024 and continue through January 31, 2025, or until all leaves are collected. The entire city should be covered by the first week of December. The second round should be completed by the first week of January, with the final cleanup completed by the end of January.
Leaves are to be raked into piles or windrows and should be placed at curbside only. Residents are asked not to bag leaves. Placing leaves in public streets, gutters, or over storm drains is expressly prohibited. All leaf piles should be free of trash, debris, and limbs, or they will not be collected. Bagged leaf collection is not encouraged, but if you miss your collection period, you may bag your leaves and place them in your garbage container, provided it still adheres to automated collection guidelines. If bagged leaves do not fit inside your garbage container for regular weekly pickup, you can take them to the Carter County Landfill.
We ask for your patience during the leaf collection period, as crews will service each area as soon as possible. We sincerely ask for your cooperation so that the process may be accomplished as efficiently as possible.
