Chilly, damp conditions didn’t stop Carter Countians from turning out in droves on Wednesday, the opening day of early voting at the Carter County Election Commission located at 116 Holston Ave. First Baptist Elizabethton’s parking lot across the street was packed, and there was a line outside the election commission building waiting to vote.

Early voting will continue through October 31, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to noon.
