A Hampton man faces a felony charge after an internet tip led to the discovery of child sex abuse material.
Investigators with the Carter County Sheriff’s Office arrested Roy McClellan Jr., 38, of Hampton, on Friday and charged him with aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor.
The charge against McClellan is the result of an investigation that began when CCSO Investigator Preston White received two cyber tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding child sex abuse material uploaded through a Yahoo email address. The email platform reported that 12 videos were uploaded depicting prepubescent female children engaging in sexual acts. Investigators tracked the IP address used to upload the videos through the email platform and identified McClellan as the suspect.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are pending.
McClellan is being held at the Carter County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.
