Sycamore Shoals Hospital resumes inpatient services; county health department to reopen Thursday

According to Ballad Health, Sycamore Shoals Hospital will resume inpatient services on Wednesday, opening 12 beds for patients.
Due to rising flood waters from the Watauga River, the hospital evacuated 39 inpatients on Friday and suspended all medical operations except for emergency services.
The hospital is located at U.S. 321 and West Elk Avenue.
Carter County Health Department is scheduled to reopen for regular hours on Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but with limited services.
