City and county governmental offices now plan to reopen on Thursday, with schools remaining closed due to the damage caused by the remnants of Hurricane Helene. 

 Elizabethton City Hall will remain closed on Wednesday, but staff will report to work, as will Elizabethton Electric’s administrative staff; however, no payments will be taken in drive-thru nor walk-in.

 Carter County Courthouse will reopen for regular hours on Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

 Carter County Health Department will reopen for regular hours on Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but with limited services.

 Elizabethton City Schools will be closed for the remainder of the week, while fall break is Oct. 7-11.

 Carter County Schools are closed for the remainder of the week. Fall break is scheduled for Oct. 21-25.
