Sycamore Shoals Hospital in Elizabethton safely evacuated its patients on Friday and has suspended all operations except for its emergency room, according to a statement on the Ballad Health website.

The emergency room remains open to accept local, incoming patients, while all current inpatients have been transferred to other Ballad Health hospitals for continued care.

Ballad Health advises that individuals in need of medical care should go to the next closest hospital or call 911 for assistance. Further updates on when the hospital will resume full operations are expected in the coming days.
