Johnson City man arrested for aggravated assault, resisting arrest

JOHNSON CITY — On Sept. 29, officers with the Johnson City Police Department (JCPD) arrested Tupac Shakur, 45, of Johnson City, and charged him with aggravated assault and resisting arrest.
Around 12:30 a.m., JCPD officers responded to a domestic disturbance at the victim’s residence. The victim reported that Shakur had strangled her, hit her, and chased her with a knife. When officers arrived, Shakur brandished a knife at them and refused to comply with their commands.
After a brief standoff, Shakur was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Detention Center.
No further details have been released regarding the victim’s condition or Shakur’s bond status at this time.
