Lucy Tolley Woodby, 92, Unicoi, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at the Center on Aging and Health, Erwin. Lucy was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Jesse and Hattie Byrd Tolley.

Lucy was a homemaker. She enjoyed farming and growing flowers. Lucy was a member of Woodby Hill Freewill Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Nathan W. Woodby, on May 23, 2014; one grandson, Thomas Simerly; one infant brother, Leslie Joe Tolley; one brother, Raymond and Judy Tolley; one sister, Minerva and Claude Reed; and her son-in-law, Frank Bailey. 

Survivors include one son, Kenneth Woodby and wife, Beverly, of Unicoi; two daughters, Teresa Simerly and husband, Max, of Unicoi, and Dianna Bailey, of Unicoi; one grandson, David Woodby and wife, Sarina; and one sister-in-law, Bessie Hill. Several nieces and nephews also survive. 

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 29, from 2 until 3 p.m. at Unicoi Funeral Home. Pastor Lester “Bo” Perkins will officiate Lucy’s 3 p.m. funeral service. A private committal will be held at a later date in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Lucy’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the Staff of Center on Aging and Health, especially Cherie Masters.
