Emmanuel Christian Seminary at Milligan now offers a Master of Theological Studies (MTS) degree, a two-year, 49-credit hour academic program.
Emmanuel’s MTS program provides a strong theological foundation for students interested in pursuing further graduate or doctoral programs, missionary work, teaching, or a professional field outside of traditional ministry.
The MTS degree remodels the seminary’s former Master of Arts in Religion degree established in 1972, meeting current seminary trends and making the degree more efficient and applicable.
“Emmanuel’s new MTS degree will allow more students to receive a top-notch graduate degree that will provide them with a foundation from which they can grow in a number of directions,” said Milligan University President Dr. Stephen Waers. “This degree situates deep scholarship within the community of faith.”
Students pursuing an MTS degree can expect instruction and guidance from Emmanuel’s esteemed faculty, a thorough theological foundation, flexibility to pursue their specific academic focus, experience in academic research and a close-knit community at the seminary. MTS students can select a concentration in biblical studies, church history, Christian theology, historical theology, New Testament or Old Testament.
“The new and improved MTS degree provides students with a strong academic degree that is both broad, yet focused,” said Dr. Ron Kastens, academic dean of Emmanuel Christian Seminary at Milligan and associate professor of Christian ministry. “Emmanuel’s MTS degree offers a great foundation preparing students for further academic study or a variety of vocational pursuits.”
Emmanuel offers numerous scholarship opportunities for the MTS degree.
