After a nightmarish first half in which they scored only seven points while sleepwalking through the motions, the Elizabethton Cyclones finally got an eye-popping jolt at halftime that jarred them to attention.
The result was a 35-point second half that carried the Cyclones to a 42-0 blanking of the Boone Blazers at William B. Greene Jr. Stadium on the campus of ETSU in Friday night football action.
Rhett Slagle went 9-of-13 for 117 yards and two scores, adding a rushing touchdown. The Wallin cousins — Zach, Justius, and J-Bird — each collected one score in the win.
CJ Mathes added a rushing touchdown, while Justin Whitehead caught one of Slagle’s touchdown passes.
A breakdown of the game will be in the STAR‘s Wednesday edition.
