A Carter County man was killed in a single-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon on US Highway 19E.

The crash occurred around 3 p.m. when a 1999 GMC Sonoma, driven by Timothy Walker, was traveling southbound in the left lane. Walker lost control of the vehicle while navigating a slight left curve, causing the truck to veer into the right lane, continue onto the shoulder, and leave the roadway. The vehicle struck an embankment before colliding with a large metal power pole, where it came to a final rest.

Walker, who was wearing his seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
