East Tennessee State University’s award-winning choirs are set to open the 2024-25 season with an exciting and diverse concert, “Choral Collage,” featuring a mix of musical styles and genres.
The performance will take place on Friday, Sept. 27, at 7:30 p.m. at the ETSU Martin Center for the Arts.
The concert will feature performances by the ETSU Chorale, BucsWorth Tenor Bass Choir, East Tennessee Belles Soprano Alto Choir, and Ascension. The groups will perform individually and come together for a grand finale featuring over 150 singers on stage.
“This season opener is a fantastic celebration of the incredible talent within our choirs,” said Dr. Alan Stevens, chair of the Department of Music. “From contemporary to pop to classical, the variety of genres promises something for every music lover. The energy and spirit our students bring to the stage will make this an unforgettable night.”
The Choral Collage will highlight the musical diversity of ETSU’s choirs:
– ETSU Chorale: This highly selective group has performed nationally and internationally, showcasing a commitment to choral excellence.
– BucsWorth Tenor Bass Choir: This choir has been a staple of ETSU’s music scene for more than 30 years, performing a variety of musical styles.
– East Tennessee Belles: The Belles are recognized as one of the region’s top soprano-alto choirs, performing at prestigious events across the state.
– Ascension: This contemporary group adds a fresh dynamic to ETSU’s choral program, blending modern music with traditional choral techniques.
The Department of Music is a profound source of creative energy in the region, and the ETSU campus is buzzing with activity in September.
