Johnathan “Jon” Peters, 46, of Elizabethton, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024. Jon was born in Elizabethton on July 29, 1978, to Dhal Peters of Elizabethton and the late Jerlean Carr Peters.

Jon worked as a machinist at Sossner Steel in Elizabethton. He had also worked with computers and television repair, and enjoyed fly fishing and shooting guns. Jon was interested in astronomy and was a member of the Bays Mountain Astronomy Club.

Those left to cherish Jon’s memory in addition to his father,  include two sisters, Angela Peters of Kingsport and Lisa (Harry) Mintz of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and his nephews, Benjamin Mintz and Samuel Mintz.

A graveside service to celebrate Jon’s life will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2024, in Blevins Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations in memory of Jon to the Bays Mountain Astronomy Club, 853 Bays Mountain Park Road, Kingsport, TN 37660.
