An accidental fire alarm activation triggered an emergency response to Happy Valley High School this morning.
At the time the fire alarm sounded, officers of the Carter County Sheriff’s Office were already on scene inside the school and were present when the alarm was tripped around 10 a.m. Additional CCSO officers as well as Elizabethton Fire Department personnel responded to the scene.
The school was placed into a temporary lockdown while all of the school buildings, including the CTE buildings and the field house, were searched and cleared. No fire or other threat was found anywhere within the school grounds.
A review of the security camera video at the school showed that this was an accidental trigger by a student leaning on an alarm pull station. This has been determined to be an accidental and isolated incident.
