The following arrests have been reported by the Carter County Sheriff’s Office: 

• Tonya Lynn Fitzgerald was arrested on Sept. 6 at 910 Fairview Road on an active warrant from Mitchell County, N.C., for violating the sex offender registry. She was charged as a fugitive from justice.
• Larry Paul Cole and Darroll C. Davis were both arrested on Sept. 6 at Sinking Creek Baptist Church on separate warrants for violating probation. Both were transported to the Carter County Detention Center without incident.
• On Sept. 6, William “Bill” Atwood was arrested for violating parole after a verbal dispute on Commodore Ave. He was found hiding under a tarp and was taken into custody without further issues.
• Christine E. Bassett was arrested on Sept. 8 at Sinking Creek Baptist Church on two active warrants for violating community corrections. She was transported to the Carter County Detention Center without incident.
• Sidney Charles Byers was arrested on Sept. 8 under the 19E bridge after deputies found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in his vehicle. Byers was charged with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
• Troy Elzie Clawson Jr. was arrested on Sept. 8 after fleeing a domestic disturbance scene. He was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on prior charges.
• Angela D. Grindstaff was taken into custody on Sept. 9 on multiple counts of identity theft and fraudulent use of a credit card.
• Rebecca Anna Sue Clawson was arrested on Sept. 10 for aggravated burglary, assault, and public intoxication after forcing her way into a home and threatening the residents.
• Brooks Lynn Carver Jr. was charged with public intoxication on Sept. 11 after erratic behavior while under the influence of narcotics.
• On Sept. 11, Deputy Jeff Winters was dispatched to the Sullivan County Jail to take Ashlee Sue Townsend Branch, 32, into custody on a violation of probation warrant issued by Carter County Criminal Court (Docket #24605). Branch, who is being held without bond, was transported to the Carter County Detention Center without incident.
• Jason Lee Nickles was arrested for trespassing on Sept. 11 after being found on a property he had been previously trespassed from.
• Caleb Michael Kidd was taken into custody on Sept. 11 on a warrant for violation of community corrections.
• Trisha Marie McKinney Woods was arrested on Sept. 11 for aggravated assault and vandalism after attacking a resident with a hatchet and causing property damage.
• Matthew Isaiah Clow was arrested on Sept. 12 for theft after being caught stealing metal from a property on Garrison Hollow Road.
• On Sept. 12, Transport Officer Kevin Kemp took Michael Lee Laboudy Sr. into custody from Sullivan County Deputies. Laboudy was arrested on a violation of probation warrant and booked into the Carter County Detention Center without incident.
• On Sept. 12, Sgt. Steve Tipton arrested George Joshua Harrison on a community corrections violation warrant. Harrison was taken into custody from Johnson City Police officers and transported to the Carter County Detention Center. Harrison is being held without bond.
