First Christian

First Christian Church, Elizabethton, will have worship Sunday at 9:45 a.m. The congregation began a new church-wide series titled “Big Ideas” September 8. The Sunday School lessons will correlate with the sermon in this series.

There is also Bible study for adults, youth, and children on Wednesday nights at 6 o’clock. Also, on Wednesday, the church is beginning a study on John MacArtthus’s Twelve Unlikely Heroes.

First Christian also has a food pantry. Persons needing a food box are asked to call the church office at 542-5651 to make an appointment.

First Christian is located at 513 Hattie Ave.

The minister is Michael Klaus.

 

Union Hill Free Will

Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church, 125 Lane Hill Road, is celebrating its 90th anniversary with a homecoming service at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 15. 

Former pastor Tony Trot will preach, and lunch will be served in the fellowship hall following the service. 

Pastor Tyler Street invites friends and former church members to join in the celebration.

 

Whitehead Hill Christian

Homecoming will be held Sunday, Sept. 15, at Whitehead Hill Bible Christian Church, Roan Mountain. 

Lunch will be served following the 11 a.m. service.

Andy Lunceford is pastor, and invites everyone to attend.

 

By Faith Free Will Baptist

Loren Harris, formerly of the Kingdom Heirs, will sing Sunday at the morning service at By Faith Free Will Baptist Church, 25 Veterans Way, Johnson City. The service will begin at 11 a.m.

Mike Upright will sing Sunday at 6 p.m. He is known for such songs as “Winner Either Way” and “It’s Amazing What A Prayer Can Do.”

The pastor, the Rev. Randy English, invites the public to attend both services.

 

Slagle’s Community Church

A youth concert with David Whaley will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Slagle’s Community Church, Old Watauga Road.

Wednesday at 6 p.m., Dennis Milhorn and Estil Williams will speak. Special music will be presented by the Slagle’s Choir.

Mike Berry is pastor and invites the public to attend all services at the church.

 

Moore’s Chapel

Homecoming will be held Sunday at Moore’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, Stoney Creek.

The 10 a.m. service will feature singing by the Knight Family. Bro. Willie Campbell will preach at the 11 a.m. service, after which a homecoming meal will be served.

There will be no evening service.

The pastor, Richard Blevins, invites the public to attend.

 

First Presbyterian

First Presbyterian Church Elizabethton, 119 West F St., will have both an online and in-person worship service Sunday at 11 a.m.

The pastor, the Rev. Dr. Brian Wyatt, will present the sermon “Stop Pouting and Pass the Hummus” based on Matthew 16: 1-5.

Meditation is held each Wednesday at 7 p.m. and Adult Forum is each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in Martin Hall.

 

Roan Street Free Will

Bro. Leo Rhymer will preach Sunday at the 11 a.m. service at Roan Street Free Will Baptist Church.

On Sunday, Sept. 22, the Edwards Family from North Carolina will sing at the 11 a.m. service.

The pastor, the Rev. Donnie Harris, invites the public to attend all services at the church, located in Black Bottom.

 

Poplar Grove

Poplar Grove Baptist Church will have homecoming Sunday at the 11 a.m. service.

The Foundations will provide a musical program.
