Mulching workday at Sycamore Shoals

A Tennessee Serves Day: Mulching Party will be held at Sycamore Shoals State Park on Saturday, Sept. 28, to stabilize the slope behind the amphitheater. Mulching will help prevent erosion and support the health of the surrounding vegetation. Volunteers will be spreading mulch over the designated area to create a protective layer that minimizes soil displacement and enhances the natural beauty of the park. This is a great opportunity to contribute to the preservation of our park’s landscape while enjoying the outdoors and connecting with fellow community members.

Workers will meet at the Amphitheater behind Fort Watauga at 9 a.m. to get tools and have a brief discussion about the day’s goal. Bring gloves, a shovel or pitchfork, and a full water bottle. Please wear sturdy shoes and be ready to make a positive impact!

Sycamore Stitchers Quilt Show

The 29th Annual Sycamore Stitchers Quilt Show will be held October 4-6 at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park in the Visitors Center.

This three-day exhibition, sponsored by the Sycamore Shoals Stitchers, features a show and demonstrations by local quilters. Bed quilts, wall hangings, holiday and baby quilts, miniatures and antique quilts will be on display.
