Sycamore Stitchers Quilt Show

The 29th Annual Sycamore Stitchers Quilt Show will be held October 4-6 at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park in the Visitors Center.

This three-day exhibition, sponsored by the Sycamore Shoals Stitchers, features a show and demonstrations by local quilters. Bed quilts, wall hangings, holiday and baby quilts, miniatures and antique quilts will be on display.

Farmers Market at Kiwanis Park

The Elizabethton Farmers Market will be held at an alternate location at the Kiwanis Park in West End at the intersection of West G St. and Carter Blvd. on Tuesday, Sept. 24.

Hours for the Farmers Market are from 4 to 7 p.m. The market is normally held at the Covered Bridge Park.

The Farmers Market features produce, meat, eggs, honey, baked goods, artisan crafts, food trucks, live music and more.

 

Overmountain Muster at Park

The annual muster of the Overmountain Militia will be held Saturday, Sept. 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area.

The muster will consist of a weekend of living history during the encampment of the Overmountain Militia before the Battle of King’s Mountain in 1780. The weekend will feature historical demonstrations, displays, and presentations as the public re-lives some of the most crucial days of the American Revolution.

Admission is free.

 

Covered Bridge Days coming up

The annual Covered Bridge Celebration will be held September 20-22 in downtown. The celebration will include activities on Kids Island below the Elk Avenue Bridge. Activities will include inflatables, a foam party and magician throughout the day, beginning at 11 a.m.

There will also be arts and crafts and food vendors.

Entertainment Friday will include Stemwinder at 3:30 p.m., Hi-Test Bluegrass at 5:30 p.m. and Daniel Grindstaff at 7:30 p.m.

Activities will continue Saturday on Kids Island as well as a Main Street Block Party in the 500 Block of Elk Avenue. Saturday entertainment will include a King and Queen Pageant at 11 a.m., the Appalachian Irish Dance Co. at 1:30 p.m.; the Covered Bridge Cloggers at 2:30 p.m.; Watts Dance Studio at 3:30 p.m.; and East Tennessee Ballet Academy at 4:30 p.m.

Main Street entertainment will include Powershift at 1 p.m. followed by the Bullseye Band at 3:15 p.m. and Carson Peters & Iron Mountain at 5:30 p.m.

Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder will perform at 8 p.m.

The day will end with a fireworks show at 9:45 p.m.

Sunday will feature more entertainment highlighted by a concert by Jason Crabb at 4:30 p.m.

 

Pokemon TCG Play and Trade

The Elizabethton-Carter County Public Library will sponsor a Pokemon TCG Play and Trade Saturday, Sept. 14, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the library. The library will have some common cars to give away to those new to collecting. For those learning to play the card game, starter decks will be available to help you learn.

 

Fall Hat Party for Hampton VFD

A Fall Hat Party will be held at the Valley Forge Fire Department from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15. The event, sponsored by the Hampton Volunteer Fire Department, will require a ticket, which includes your choice of hat, tool rental, materials, accessories, beverages and snack.
