William “Bill” “Bud” Hambric, 82, of Elizabethton, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Johnson City Medical Center. Bud was born in Washington County, Tenn., on August 15, 1942 to the late William Taylor Hambrick and Sarah Kathleen Vestal Hambrick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the former loves of his life: Bessie Phyllis Hambric and Violet Jean Ritchie; his beloved son, Billy Hambric; three sisters, Patsy Street, Berniece Guinn and Maxine Estep; his brother, Carl Hambric; his grandson, Zach Campbell; and a son-in-law, Kenneth Laws Jr.
Bud retired from North American Rayon Corporation as a millwright and was a member of Willow Springs Baptist Church. He loved to give his testimony to where the Lord had brought him from, and the promise of where he is now. Bud was also a member of the Moose Lodge and the Masonic Watauga Lodge #622. He enjoyed gardening, camping and spending time with his family.
Those left to remember Bud and cherish his memory include his four daughters, Christel Peterson (Garnie) of Erwin, Kimberly Hambric Hoefling Laws, Roseanne Bowers (Mitchell) of Elizabethton and Freda Campbell, also of Elizabethton; seven grandchildren, A.J. Hoefling, Madison Peterson, Keaton Peterson, Tara Arnold, Victoria Cook, Ashley Tribble and Tina Fitzsimmons; five great-grandchildren, and two brothers, R.L. Hambric and wife Teresa of Elizabethton and Donny Elwood Hambric and wife Linda of North Carolina. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A celebration of Bud’s life will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, September 7, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton with Pastor Jacob Howell officiating. A eulogy will be provided by a daughter, Christel Peterson. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel between the hours of 5 and 6:30 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. A special thank you to Dr. Ezra Adams of Johnson City Medical Center, to RN Lynn, RN Agnes on Floor 7, Amanda with Comfort Care, the ER Staff at Sycamore Shoals Hospital, his nephew, Phillip Taylor and wife Joy, and Willow Springs Baptist Church for their prayers, love and support.
