The Elizabethton Lady Cyclone volleyball team was riding a four-game winning streak and hoped to extend it to five on Tuesday when they hosted the Lady Indians of Dobyns-Bennett.

The opening set was tightly contested, with neither team able to gain significant momentum. Despite some sloppy play at the net, the Lady Indians managed to take the lead. Dobyns-Bennett eventually built a 21-16 advantage, prompting Lady Cyclone head coach Greg Abarientos to call a timeout. Although the move briefly slowed the Lady Indians, they closed out the set with a 25-19 win.

In the second set, Dobyns-Bennett found their rhythm, winning points on serve and at the net to establish a commanding 21-12 lead. The Lady Indians extended their advantage to take the set 25-13, securing a 2-0 lead.

Elizabethton refused to go down without a fight, battling hard in the third set. With timely serving from Zoe Proffitt, who turned a 10-7 deficit into a 10-10 tie, and strong net play from Ava George Wilber, Allie Stout, and Ainsley Wampler, the Lady Cyclones forced a fourth set with a 25-21 win.

Despite the early 4-4 tie in the fourth set, the Lady Indians gradually pulled away from the determined Lady Cyclones. Trailing 19-9 late in the set, Elizabethton mounted a final push, cutting the deficit to 21-16. However, they were unable to hold off the visitors, who clinched the match with a 25-16 victory in the final set.

The Lady Cyclones now stand at 5-3 overall and 3-0 in conference play. They are scheduled to play conference rival Unicoi County on Thursday night in Unicoi County.

With the win, the Lady Indians improve to 4-7 overall and 1-1 in conference action.
