JOHNSON CITY – On Aug. 29, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Francisco Vasquez, 47, of Johnson City, and charged him with vehicular assault and leaving the scene of an accident with injuries.

The arrest followed an investigation into a pedestrian and vehicle collision that occurred on Aug. 27 at approximately 9:40 p.m. on West Market Street near Lamons Lane. During an interview with officers, Vasquez admitted to driving the vehicle that struck the pedestrian and then fleeing the scene.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital to be treated for significant injuries.

Vasquez was transported to the Washington County Detention Center.
