Cyclone linksters finish second at Warriors Path

The Elizabethton High School boys’ and girls’ golf teams traveled to Kingsport to participate in a three-way match with host West Ridge and Gate City, Virginia, where both teams finished in second place.

Cyclone freshman Bryson Hardin tied for top medalist honors with Gate City’s Carter Wolfe, as both golfers led their teams with a nine-hole round of 33 in boys’ action.

As a team, the Cyclones finished with a 154, seven strokes behind the first-place West Ridge Wolves, who defended their home course with an overall team score of 147. The Blue Devils finished the day with a team score of 160.

Collin Phillips, playing in the three-slot for the Cyclones, finished with a 38, while No. 6 player Colton Killion fired a 41 for Elizabethton. Marshal Holtsclaw and Braxton Avery tied with a round of 42 to contribute to the Cyclones’ score. Seth Whitehead finished his day with a 46.

For the Wolves, four players finished with rounds under 40, led by Wyatt Cochran’s 34. Bo McGee (36), Jayden Foster (38), and Raiden Collier (39) helped secure the first-place finish for West Ridge.

Sam Paige (40), Brayden Cox (43), and Cam Henderson (44) led Gate City’s third-place finish behind Wolfe.

For the Lady Cyclones, Clara Roe led her team with a nine-hole total of 50, as the Cyclones finished the day with a 101, 10 strokes behind first-place West Ridge, which recorded a team-low 91.

Ashlyn Chesser’s round of 45 led all golfers and earned her the girls’ medalist honor for West Ridge. Callie Mosley finished the day with a 51, contributing to the Lady Cyclones’ 101, while teammates Phoebe Holly and Lindzie Swecker completed the day with rounds of 52 and 56, respectively, for Elizabethton.

Daisy Kizer (46) helped give the Wolves their 91, while Anna Manship (55) and Lola Sanders (59) rounded out the four-player round for West Ridge. Isabella Parton was the lone Lady Blue Devil on the course and fired a 63.
