Mrs. Constance Devine Royer passed away at Brookdale Colonial Heights at the age of 87. She was born in Norwich, New York on November 12, 1936. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward F. Devine and Frances L. Tinker. In addition to her parents, Constance was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of forty-eight years, Dr. Carl G. Royer; her brother, Martin T. Devine; and a stepson, Carl G. Royer.
Contance attended Norwich City schools, Green Mountain Jr. College in Poultney, VT and graduated Harcum Jr. College in Bryn Mawr, PA in 1956. After her schooling, Constance worked with her husband in his veterinary practice in varied capacities for 50 years. She also taught and wrote Bible studies. Constance attended Heartland Fellowship and St. Elizabeth’s Roman Catholic Church both in Elizabethton. Constance was a certified Mayflower descendant and a direct descendant of Isaac Allerton and Richard Warren.
Constance is survived by her children: Justine Hein and spouse Michael, Stephen Swales and spouse Jennifer, Pamela Butziger and spouse Peter, and Theodore Royer and spouse Heidi; her grandchildren: Jessica Strom, Jeremiah Hein, Jonathan Hein, Joel Hein, Nathan Swales, Benjamin Swales, Lauren Myrick, and Lukas Royer; and her great-grandchildren: Ilsa Strom, Ileana Strom, Iason Strom, Molly Hein, Malachi Hein, Mattias Hein, Eve Hein, Ezra Hein, and Emily Myrick.
A private family graveside service will be conducted at a later date in the Dotson Cemetery, Roan Mountain with Pastor Greg Largent officiating.
