Lucy Thelma Nelson Sims, 87, Roan Mountain, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was born June 26, 1937 in Bluff City to the late Henry and Eva Perry Nelson.

Lucy was a homemaker and was of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Sims; a daughter, Peggy Ann Bowman; two sisters, Frances Charlton and Mary Garland; and five brothers, George, Wallace, J.C., Robert and James Nelson.

Survivors include four children, James Henry Sims, Theresa Oaks and husband Johnny, Randy Lee Sims and wife Lisa and Michael Shane Sims; 19 grandchildren; several great and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Lois Ann Scalf; several nieces and nephews; a specialĀ  nephew, Cecil Nelson; and special friend, Sharon Williams.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 12, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Brandon Young officiating. Active pallbearers will be Chris Scalf, Allen Scalf, Kenny Garland, Timmy Garland, Josh Sims and Hutch Sims. The family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m. Monday, prior to the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carter County Rescue.
